Hi R.D Simone I really really love your webpage! I am not fro the 60's, I was actually born in 1979, but I wish I was from the 60's. God this Era i was born into is so boring. I collect anything about the 60's (movies, clothes, posters, albums, and ect) so I found your wbepage very helpful!! I came across a photo in your webpage that is of Francine Brockey, and I thought that Francine was actually Pamela Courson(Jim Morrison's long time girl friend) because they were both tiny, slim, natural redheads. Then I read it was actually francine and not Pam. Click here to see a few Pam pictures so that you can see what I Mean. http://www.geocities.com/miladyshady/jimandpam11.jpg http://www.crystal-ship.com/index.php3?sec=06&type=8&img=11252000 http://www.crystal-ship.com/index.php3?sec=06&type=8&img=11112000 see how much Pamela and Francine look alike? anyway, did you ever meet pamela Courson? She use to live in Laurel Canyon with Jim Morrison, then with Jim, she moved to Norton Avenue . Then later on they both went to Paris , which we all know what happened there..... She use to go to the Troubador alot until 1970, because she said it had become "too much of a hassle". Did you ever meet and speak with Jim Morrison personally? Or Pam? I can't wait to see that video clip of Francine and poorboy. take care :) Erika My e-mail is mergirl31@hotmail.com

it's me Erika again. I can see the links did not work, only one worked. The site looks marvelous my dear! Simply marvelous! And to Remote User below on Skye Saxon - Yes dear Skye has a unique brain pan now - and back then. He has always encouraged young girls and regarding his musical ability? Well love we just disagree that's all. I know he is getting long in the tooth so to speak - but there simply isn't anything else like listening to the long version of "Up In Her Room" or being reminded of Skye's contribution to the world of rock with the tone and lyric of "Mr. Farmer." Skye may be different than most - yet I must say that over the 30 some odd years since we first met he has always been impecably gracious (ala Skye) when we have been together again. Bless your sprits in the Skye ! Anonymouse For Now

hi, i remember chuck blackwell very well,i went to tulsa one year after having known jamie oldaker, dick sims, sergio pastora and phil driscoll from st louis, as well as phil's wife patti and dick's wife toby. sergio was staying at chucks place in tulsa and invited me to stay. i stayed a week or so until chuck yelled at me for running the bathtub over and i ran off to L.A. to stay with Sergios brother Lee. Phil's band finally came to L.A. to make an album at A&M studios, where i hung out with Alan MacDougall and we all became reacquainted. Patti had a baby and Dick and Toby had split, so i spent a fun weekend on Catalina Island Dick and baby sat a few times for phil and patty. We stayed friends for several years but eventually lost touch. i would love to know what happened to chuck and dick. jamie and phil are still pretty well known and i heard that sergio and lee went back to Yucatan where they were born but i have completely lost touch with the other two. i was known as Suzi back then although i'm sure there were other nicknames if i cared to remember them LOL. God i miss those days. your website was like a trip to the past. msuehess@earthlink.net

Hello from Hollywood Joe..... I live in Torrance as of this writing,,,,, just 15 or so miles south of Hollywood ,,,,, And I am very glad that I came across your website....! It is a true tribute to a great town..... Tinsel Town ...... I first arrived here the in the first few days of September 1977.... just two weeks after Elvis Presley passed away... and came here on a "visit" to stay with my sister Boe....who had been out here since the summer of 1975 ...and was at the time of my arrival was working at CBS Records over in Century City.... I immediately seemed to fit right in with no effort at all to all that was going on around me .... I lived up in the Hollywood Hills on Camrose off of Highland......and moved around quite a bit over the years to come...playing music with newly formed friends....on Curson avenue off of Sunset across the street from DJ Rodney Bingenheimer....who once told me as early as 1979 ...."if you went over to play in Japan there would be riots at the airport". I worked at UCLA days as a busboy in the teachers dining area...then onto the midnight shift(12 a.m. to 8 a.m.) at the 7-11 right there on my corner of Sunset and Curson...and got to meet many of the wee hour patrons such as the guys from Blondie....Mark Lindsay(of Paul Revere and the Raiders fame).....tons of hookers, pimps and thieves...as well as many a girl that got my attention....as for playing music I formed a rockabilly trio...played a lot of early rock and roll from the 50's along with my originals...at the Cathay de Grande in Hollywood...Blackie's in Santa Monica.....Madame Wong's West and their downtown night club too....the China Club....the Lhasa Club...Imperial Gardens...Bullwinkles.....backed up Sky Saxon for 2 gigs...in 1986.....and was onstage with Arthur Lee and Love at the Troubadour...a club that I worked at for a full year from October 1979 to November of 1980.......and Gene Clark of the Byrds at the Raincheck Room on Santa Monica Boulevard.....it was a blast...I can recall it all....Brendan Mullen at the Masque.... talking to a seemingly very shy but intelligent Darby Crash.....the Weirdos....Ruben Blue.....the creator of Scratch magazine that went on to become L.A. Rocker or something like that...and is still in publication....many a meeting with members of the G.T.O.'s,,,,namely Miss Mercy...Miss Charity and Pamela DeBarres....who all had incredible lives...I hope that you will contact me...I may be able to help...add....or correct things that you need to know about some Hollywood-ites..... thank you for reading, Hollywood Joe I am here with my music.... http://www.hollywoodjoe.com http://www.mp3.com/hollywoodjoe http://www.hollywoodjoe.8m.com hollywoodjoe@usa.com

Hi! I happened upon this site by accident, I was looking for a picture of the Castle Argyle! I used to live there, just before they turned it into a urban renewal project! I can't remember the year, but I certainly remember being there during the Simi earthquake! When the govt bought the building,we were all evicted, and I heard that they carved those great apts up into smaller ones! What a shame! Thanks for having the picture up, I can't wait to show my husband, I have always talked about that place and all the interesting characters I met there, and all the ghost stories that went along with it! Even though there is no remnant of that life-style left in me these days, I do appreciate the reminiscing at your fun site. My name is Tom Funk, tenor sax and singer in various groups of the sixties playing the gamut from Vegas to the movies. I should mention, first of all, the 'bad boy' of the Sunset Strip, Troy Walker, whom I played with up at the Prelude on the strip, sort of kitty-corner from the old Carolina Pines restaurant. Joey Dee and the Starlighters were playing in the more known club below us (can't remember) and after the gig we would go accross to the Carolina Pns. and, a number of times, one of Joey Dee's back-up male singers would walk up to our table behind someone and stick a saliva-wet finger in that person's ear. There would be screaming incredulity and mayhem which pleased the finger guy alot. Kim Fowler was a regular at our gigs with various groups and would get on stage to our and the audience's delight and do the 'Pelican dance,' of his own creation. During that time I played with the road group of the Hollywood Argyles including, Dale Halcom, piano and guitar; Rod Shcaefer, drums and voice, Elliot Ingber, Bass and guitar and Tom Funk, sax and voice. We had one of the best gigs ever during that time at a club called, the Dream Room in New Orleans, La. Various versions of this group played around Hollywood at the Summit Club which was a jazz club that featured artists like Ramsey Lewis, Cannonball Adderly, etc., and a house rock band during the breaks to keep the balance which was us. We went on a great road trip throughout all of Texas for many weeks playing with groups like US Bonds, Dick & Deedee, Kathy Young, Ray Peterson and us, the Hollywood Argyles. My next move was to join the Nooney Rickett Four which was a great club group playing concerts in San Francisco, The Galaxy on Broadway, featured in Look magazine re: the Swim dance, Vegas, the movies (Pajama Party & Winter A go go). Sly Stewart would play our off nights at the Galaxy going on to become 'Sly and the Family Stone.' I'm enclosing a picture of the Nooney Rickett 5, which was taken on tour in Texas around 1966. Later we took the name, 'The Noon Express.' Thanks for mentioning us on your home page. It threw me into an old, trippy bag. I've been married for 33 years, have 3 sons, four grandduaghters and we are all part of the worldwide Baha'i community called, the Baha'i Faith, one of the most challenging and thought- provoking movements of the last 150 years. It never ceases to blow me away at every turn....still. I've had the great honor of visiting the Baha'i World Center on Mt. Carmel in Haifa , Israel twice. I'll never be the same, thank God! Tom Funk

Interesting site! You asked for feedback on people you list, so hopefully this isn't redundant to you: Deceased: Carl Radle, Vito, Jesse Ed Davis, Carl Franzoni (I think), all but two of the GTO's (Pamela and one other, I believe, are still around). In Prison: Jim Gordon Still alive and kicking Elmer Valentine, who was still promoting things as little as two years ago; there was an article about him in GQ or Esquire or something like that. Hi Tom Kelly here from the Gemini Psychedelic Supermarket on Hollywood and Las Palmas, and a worker/musicians personal manager from the Omnibus coffee house on Cheunga and Franklin (circa 1966-70) we helped put on the LA Griffith Park Love-In's. (Side note; If you ever attended an LA Be/Love-In with a bus as the backdrop of the stage then you have been to one of our productions)I was speaking the other night with Bill Champlian of the Son's of Champlain and we had the greatest time together going through old war stories, lol. His was about Doug Weston's Troubadore. Anyway I told him about the time that Mike Raven (owner of the Omnibus told me to go up on top of the bus and bring down the person who had climbed up there. The Moodies refused to play until he got down. So I went up there and told him, "hey buddy get down so the band can start to play". His reply to me was, "But I'm a monkey"! I told him that I didn't care if he thought he was a giraffe get down off the bus"! Later that day someone pointed out to me that infact he was Mickey Dolenz. If anyone from here has been to a show at Griffith Park I would love to know the answer to just one question. Alice Cooper claims to have put a knofe through the heart of the Hippie movment in his first book called "Me Alice". He also mentions playing there as well. Anyone attend that show and if so who played that date with him. I seriously can't remember and I was the one who allowed him in my shop to practice and potentially manage until he found Shep Gordon and the rest is Hollywood history folks. Thank you, Tommy Kelly TKelly48@Yahoo.com

You have a great website. You write very well too. I knew Dick Monda during the mid 60's. We had recently graduated from college, and we were computer programmers at Lockheed in Burbank . He lived music; its all he talked about. He would test his new lyrics on us all the time. He was a great personality; always up and happy. He was married with a baby daughter, and he would delight in telling us about her mischief. He wanted to buy normal middle class house in the valley so he could raise his kids as normal kids. He still lives there now, I think. We lost touch, but there were some of the Lockheed folks he stayed close with over the years. Your recollection of him is good. Thanks for your fine website. scot671@hotmail.com

I WAS ONE OF THOSE GUYS SITTING AT THE TABLE AT DENNYS WITH RODNEY, KIM FOWLEY OR MICHELLE MYERS. I WORKED THE DOOR AT THE WHISKEY WITH ROCKY WALKER DURING THE 80S WHEN JIMMY LAPENA WAS THE MANAGER. (WHAT EVER HAPPENED TO LAPENA?) I MUST HAVE SEEN YOU THERE. STANDING IN LINE TO EAT AT CANTORS, WE MUST HAVE TALKED. I PLAYED GAZZARIES AND ATE AT SHAWS ACROSS THE STREET. My wife and I first met Nooney Rickett on a cruise ship where they were the lounge act. We were so impressed we closed the lounge every night/morning. Later we found they were playing in the JACK DANIELS BAR which is a part of the OPRY LAND HOTEL. Nooney Rickett was playing and living in Nashville , TN. He and his how-ex-wife, Crickett, make up the group NEVADA HEAT. Nooney and Crickett divorced and I believe Nooney moved to the LA area. That's when we lost track of him.

Hello! I really enjoyed remembering the great times. Your site is great. I only wish you'd added "The Starwood" in there. I used to work there. I've met a few of those on your site, and hung out with a couple of them. One,only mentioned in passing,I am still in contact with, and see him occasionally,Alice Cooper. We live here in Phoenix . I knew Kim Fowley, and almost became the lead singer for his girl group,"The Runaways". I thought he was nuts,so,I kinda blew him off. He signed the other blonde girl in my place,Cherie Currie. She was really great, too! And,I used to know Rodney Bingenheimer as well. Also,I met Ainsley Dunbar a few times. He played the Starwood. Quite a few of the people you mentioned and many more that intermingled with those, played at the 'wood. Again, thank you for the enjoyable time. If you happen to know someone who might have a photo of the Starwood, please, let me know. Also,if you knew Mickeal Starr, who hung out with us,I'd be grateful. I'm looking for old friends,...:)

**My message is just aboe this one, about working at the Starwood*** I went back and read all the entrys, and, yes,I agree with the one person. How could we all have been in the same places, and not know eachother? I am Shiloh ,and if anyone remembers the skinny blonde, let me know. Does anyone remember the resteraunt next to The Starwood,"Theadores"? Or the "Yellow Submarine". I ran the whole gauntlet of these clubs you all talk about, and a few more, even the Roxy. From 72' on until the Starwood died,in 81,I think it was. Due to Eddie Nash's problems. This is great. If anyone wishes to talk about the days, email me! DesertRat@getnet.com

Well, RD, thanks for the great web site. The last time I visited the Classic Cat was in September 1972. I wasn't quite old enough to drink yet (legally), but that didn't stop me and a couple of friends from enjoying the show and tossing back a few! I really liked one of the waitresses that worked there. She was very pretty, had medium length dark brown hair, and said she was from Lancaster , Calif. I think her name was Sherri, but I am not certain since it has been 30 years this month. I entered the Army in September, 1972, left for Europe , and never saw her again. If my description of her rings a bell, and you know her, please say hello for me. Thanks again for a great web site. It really brings back the memories. Mike
