I
saw Arthur Lee and LOVE in NYC at Town Hall on 10/13. LOVE shared the bill
with The Zombies. Arthur was wonderful. His voice was strong and he gave a
passionate concert. The band is very tight as well. John Echols, LOVE's
original lead guitarist, has rejoined LOVE, and he was fantastic. Honestly
Nancy, John has not missed a lick with his playing. He and the bands lead
guitarist, Mike Randle, complimented each other wonderfully. Neither tried to
out-do the other. I enjoyed myself a lot
I
saw the band again the next night in Collingswood, NJ. That venue is very
close to my home...maybe about 20 minutes away, as opposed to over 100 miles
for NYC gig. The sound accoustics were much better in Collingswood. There
wasn't much of a crowd in Collingswood-maybe about 400. I had 2nd row seats,
and I was rockin'... LOL. I met Arthur and John after their set and talked
with them a while. Arthur seems a bit shy, but it was awesome for me. Arthur
and John both signed my Forever Changes LP cover. {I feel like a teeny bopper
again...LOL}
The
Zombies were good, but I don't think they even came close to Arthur's
performance. I only stayed for 4 Zombies songs in NYC and didn't stay for any
Zombies songs the next night. I really was there for Arthur.
I
think I've told you that I belong to a LOVE messageboard and chat room. I've
made friends with other true die-hard LOVE fans from around the world. The
owner of the site used my reviews for both gigs on his site. Here's some
links to my review
